Privacy Policy
Plain words first: PaneSlide has no accounts and keeps your game progress on your own device.
Last updated: 30 October 2026
This policy explains what information PaneSlide (the website at paneslide.com, formerly paneslide.github.io, and any future domain of ours, "we", "us") uses, why, and the choices you have. If anything here is unclear, email paneslide.game@gmail.com.
The short version
- There are no accounts. We never ask for your name, email address or password to play.
- Your game progress is saved on your own device in your browser's local storage. It is not sent to us.
- Right now PaneSlide shows no ads. We plan to apply to Google AdSense; this section explains what will happen when ads are switched on, and we will update the date at the top when they are.
- We use GoatCounter, a privacy-friendly analytics service that uses no cookies, to count page views and a short list of anonymous game events (listed below). It never receives your name, email or game progress.
- We do not sell personal information.
Information stored on your device
PaneSlide saves your stars, levels, streak, daily results, shards, settings (music, sound, vibration, colour patterns), which tips you have seen, and the dates of your first and latest visit days (used for the return-visit counts described below). This is kept in your browser's local storage under names that start with ps2:. It never leaves your device unless you choose to copy your own progress code from Settings.
Local storage is not a cookie and is not sent with web requests. You can delete it at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser settings (this resets your progress). If you install PaneSlide as an app, your browser also keeps a copy of the game's files so it works offline; this cache contains no personal information.
Hosting
The site is hosted by GitHub Pages. Like any web host, GitHub's servers receive the technical information your browser sends with every request, such as your IP address, browser type and the page you asked for, and may keep it in security logs. We do not get access to these logs. See the GitHub Privacy Statement.
The game's font is served from our own site, so loading it does not contact any font service.
Advertising (Google AdSense)
Right now PaneSlide shows no ads. We plan to apply to Google AdSense; this section explains what will happen when ads are switched on, and we will update the date at the top when they are.
When ads are on, the following applies:
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this website or other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to our users based on their visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
- You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising at www.aboutads.info, or, in the European Economic Area and the UK, at www.youronlinechoices.eu.
- To learn how Google uses information from sites that use its services, read How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.
- Google is currently the only ad vendor we plan to work with. If other ad networks are ever added, we will name them here with links to their opt-out pages.
- Visitors in the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland will be asked for consent through a consent message from a Google-certified consent management platform before personalised ads or advertising cookies are used. If you do not consent, Google may still show non-personalised ads, which use cookies or local storage only for limited purposes such as frequency capping, fraud prevention and measurement.
- Ads appear only on the website pages (for example the guides, and below the play area on the home page). They never appear inside the puzzle itself.
Analytics
We use GoatCounter, a privacy-friendly analytics service that uses no cookies, to count page views and a short list of anonymous game events (listed below). It never receives your name, email or game progress.
GoatCounter does not use cookies, does not store anything in your browser, and does not track you across websites. For each page view it records the page, the referring site, your browser and operating system name (for example "Chrome 130", "Android 15"), screen width, language, and a country worked out from your IP address. According to GoatCounter's privacy policy, it stores these only as separate daily or hourly totals that cannot be linked together, and it does not store your IP address, your full browser string, or any tracking ID. To tell a repeat visit from a new one, GoatCounter keeps a random session number in memory for up to eight hours and then forgets it.
Game events we count
Besides page views, the game counts a few anonymous events, so we can see which levels are too hard, where new players give up, and which features nobody uses. Each event is only a short name, counted the same way as a page view. The full list:
- Tutorial: started, completed or skipped.
- Levels: a level was started, solved, restarted or left unsolved. A solved level also records the level number, the stars (1 to 3), how many swipes over par, how many hints and undos were used (as small numbers), and the time taken in a rough band such as "1 to 2 minutes".
- New kinds of glass: the first time a player reaches the level that introduces a new glass (for example ice or sand).
- Daily puzzle: opened and solved (with swipes over par and a time band). Archive: a past day was played or solved, with a rough "how many days ago" band.
- Shop and gifts: which shop item was bought with in-game shards (no real money exists in PaneSlide), and which day of the gift week was claimed.
- Sharing: the share button was pressed (for the daily, a past day, a level or a milestone). Links in share texts end in "?ref=share", and a visit that arrives through one is counted once as "arrived from a shared link". This tells us that sharing happened, never who shared or who opened the link.
- Return visits: on the first visit of a new day (by your device's calendar), whether you have played on an earlier day, and how many days in a row you have visited, in a band: 1, 2, 3 to 6, 7 to 13, 14 to 29, or 30 and more. To work this out the game keeps just three dates on your device (your first day, the first day of the current run and the last day you visited), which are never sent.
- Music: switched on or muted.
- App: the install button was pressed, and the app was installed.
- Guides: each guide page is counted as a page view, plus one event when a reader scrolls through three quarters of a guide.
Events never include your name, email, progress code, the exact moves you made, or anything you type. They are not linked to each other or to an advertising ID. To keep the numbers small, the same event is counted at most once per browser tab session, at most 60 events are sent per session, and events are sent in small batches. To do this, PaneSlide keeps a short list of the event names it has already sent in your browser's session storage, which the browser deletes when you close the tab; it never leaves your device.
PaneSlide on itch.io and CrazyGames
The versions of PaneSlide on itch.io and CrazyGames also count plays anonymously with GoatCounter, in the same way as this website. Their page views and events are recorded under "itch/" and "crazygames/" paths, so we can tell them apart from plays here. They use no cookies and send no personal data, and they also respect Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control: if your browser sends either signal, nothing is counted.
Turning analytics off
If your browser sends a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal, PaneSlide does not load GoatCounter at all, so no page views or events are sent. Content blockers that block GoatCounter also stop it; the game works exactly the same either way.
Children
PaneSlide is a general-audience game suitable for all ages, but it is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. When ads are on, we will not ask Google to treat the site as directed at children; if you believe a child has given us personal information (for example by email), contact us and we will delete it.
Emails you send us
If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you write. We use it only to reply and to fix problems you report, and we delete messages we no longer need. Email is handled by Google (Gmail).
Your rights
Depending on where you live, data-protection laws give you rights over your personal information. These include the EU and UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the CPRA (CCPA), and India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act).
- Access, correction and deletion. You can ask what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. In practice we hold almost nothing: your game data is on your own device, and you can delete it yourself.
- Withdrawing consent. Where we rely on consent (for example for personalised ads in the EEA and UK), you can withdraw it at any time through the consent message's privacy settings link, or by clearing this site's cookies.
- Legal bases (GDPR). Saving your progress on your device is needed to provide the game you asked for. Ads that use cookies rely on your consent where the law requires it. Cookie-free counting of page views and anonymous game events relies on our legitimate interest in knowing how many people use the site.
- California (CCPA). We do not sell personal information. When ads are on, Google's ad cookies may count as "sharing" for cross-context behavioural advertising under California law; you can opt out using the links in the advertising section above or by turning on a Global Privacy Control signal in your browser.
- India (DPDP Act). You may ask us for a summary of personal data we process, ask for correction or erasure, and raise a grievance with us at the email below. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
- Complaints. You can also complain to your local data-protection authority.
To use any of these rights, email paneslide.game@gmail.com. We will reply within 30 days.
Changes to this policy
We will update this page when something changes, for example when ads or analytics are switched on, and change the "last updated" date at the top.
